Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking an MEP Project Manager with direct commercial plumbing experience to lead and own plumbing projects from preconstruction through closeout in a hands-on, field-facing role in California. You will manage schedules, budgets, procurement, and subcontractors while coordinating with owners, engineers, and general contractors to ensure contract compliance and profitability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management in commercial/industrial plumbing construction.
• Direct experience managing commercial plumbing and/or process piping projects.
• Experience with plumbing contractor, mechanical contractor or MEP subcontractor environments.
• Ownership of projects from start to finish; not acceptable to be only MEP coordination.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, drawings, specifications and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and industrial plumbing and process piping projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and project activities to maintain schedule and quality.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, RFIs, and change orders to drive execution.
• Interface with general contractors, owners, engineers, inspectors, vendors, and field teams.
• Track costs, commitments, billing, change orders, and schedule performance.
• Resolve field and technical issues involving plumbing systems and installation requirements.
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery for scheduled work.
• Conduct project meetings and provide updates on progress, risks, costs, and issues.
• Drive projects through punch list, commissioning, inspections, and closeout.

Job description

We are looking for an MEP Project Manager with direct commercial plumbing experience to take ownership of project execution from preconstruction through closeout across commercial and industrial plumbing and process piping projects. This is a hands‑on project leadership role within a mechanical contracting environment, requiring the ability to manage field execution, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, materials, and client requirements. The Project Manager will work closely with field teams and project stakeholders to keep plumbing projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with contract requirements. Candidates must have direct plumbing project management experience rather than general MEP coordination experience alone.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and industrial plumbing and process piping projects from preconstruction through final closeout
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and execution strategies for active plumbing projects
• Manage subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and project activities to maintain schedule and quality requirements
• Review plumbing drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders to drive project execution
• Interface directly with general contractors, owners, engineers, inspectors, vendors, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Track project costs, commitments, billing, change orders, and schedule performance to protect project profitability
• Resolve field and technical issues involving plumbing systems, materials, installation requirements, and project specifications
• Coordinate material procurement and delivery to ensure plumbing crews have the required materials and equipment for scheduled work
• Conduct project meetings and provide clear updates on progress, risks, costs, and outstanding issues
• Drive projects through punch list, commissioning, final inspections, and closeout while ensuring contract requirements are satisfied

Requirements

• 5+ years of project management experience in commercial or industrial plumbing construction
• Direct experience managing commercial plumbing and/or process piping projects is required
• Experience working for a plumbing contractor, mechanical contractor, MEP subcontractor, or similar construction environment
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, construction methods, drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, and subcontractors
• Must have direct ownership of plumbing projects from start through completion; candidates limited to MEP coordination or administrative project support will not be sufficient
• Commercial or industrial plumbing experience required; residential-only project management experience will not be sufficient
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and client-facing skills
