Job summary

Bala Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Director of MEP Operations for the Baltimore, MD region. You will lead mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering efforts, expand practice groups, and partner with senior staff to drive client relationships and profitability.

Ideal candidates bring 15+ years in the field, a PE license, and a strong network. The role emphasizes leadership, strategic growth, and cross-office collaboration within Bala’s multi-office platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) is required.
• 15+ years of experience with proven project management and design experience.
• Experience in Commercial Development, Multifamily, Life Sciences, Education, or Corporate facilities is preferred.
• Strong client relationship-building and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop short and long-term strategic plans and operating budgets.
• Define and monitor KPIs to drive revenue and profit growth.
• Build and retain client relationships by understanding their business models.
• Provide strategic input to leadership and cross-sell services.
• Support sales efforts including proposals, negotiations, and project acquisitions.
• Lead and grow the design and production teams and manage talent development.
