Bala Consulting Engineers, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineering Department Manager in Arlington, VA to lead our Washington DC area ME department. The role involves driving senior engineering direction, process improvement, and enterprise-wide collaboration.

You will oversee design quality, budgets, and schedules, while mentoring staff and championing building-code compliance. A PE license and a minimum of 10 years in MEP design are required, with strong technical writing and leadership

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience (MEP).
• Experience leading engineering teams is preferred.
• PE license is required.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with building codes and standards.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Arlington ME department and align with enterprise goals.
• Review and optimize system designs for best-in-class outcomes.
• Serve as engineering leader and resolve staff issues.
• Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for staff.
• Propose and oversee budgets and project timelines.
• Ensure accuracy of work and methodologies used.
• Collaborate with managers, suppliers, and contractors.
• Deliver engineering presentations internally and externally.
• Recruit, hire, and coach department staff.
