Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Sacramento office is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training with 2+ years of experience to join the MEP team on Building Systems and Industrial projects.

You will support HVAC load calculations, prepare design drawings under a PE, and coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams while adhering to codes and client standards. The position offers strong benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing facilities.
• ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
• EIT/EI certification and/or PE license, or ability to obtain licensure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to apply technical skills to meet project demands.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-initiative.
• Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Excel; exposure to Trane Trace or IESVE.

Responsibilities

• Support MEP team on Building Systems Engineering and Industrial projects.
• Perform load calculations for HVAC, exhaust, and water systems.
• Prepare design drawings, floor plans, flow diagrams, and calculations under a PE.
• Solve complex problems and collaborate across disciplines with clients.
• Adhere to State/local codes and client standards.
