The Opportunity

A major US contractor is growing its mission critical team in Richmond.

Several large-scale projects are already underway, including developments valued at more than $1 billion, and significant further growth is planned.

As the business expands, it is investing in the technical and MEP leadership needed to deliver increasingly complex projects.

That creates an opportunity for experienced MEP professionals to take on greater responsibility and progress quickly within a growing team.

If you understand how complex building systems are designed, coordinated, installed and commissioned, your experience may transfer well.

The Role

As an MEP Systems Manager, you will oversee the coordination and delivery of critical building systems throughout the project lifecycle.

You will work across design, construction and commissioning alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, design teams and specialist trade partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing MEP designs and contract documentation
  • Identifying constructability and coordination issues
  • Leading MEP trade coordination and coordinated drawing processes
  • Reviewing technical submittals and supporting procurement activities
  • Working with project teams to develop and maintain MEP schedules
  • Monitoring field installation and resolving technical issues
  • Coordinating mechanical, electrical and specialist trade partners
  • Supporting testing, commissioning and systems turnover
  • Managing MEP closeout requirements
Your Background

You may currently work for a:

  • General Contractor
  • Mechanical Contractor
  • Electrical Contractor
  • Specialist MEP Contractor

Your project experience could come from:

  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Commercial construction
  • Infrastructure-intensive facilities
  • Other technically complex environments

You will ideally have:

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical systems knowledge
  • Experience reviewing designs and coordinating technical work
  • An understanding of construction sequencing and field installation
  • Experience managing specialist subcontractors
  • Exposure to testing and commissioning
  • Strong technical judgement and problem-solving ability
Why Consider It?

Mission critical projects place MEP systems at the centre of successful project delivery.

For someone with a strong technical background, this is an opportunity to move into the sector without being held back by a lack of previous data center experience.

The company is growing its specialist team and has committed to supporting people who are ready to take on more responsibility.

That combination of project complexity, sector growth and genuine career progression is what makes this opportunity particularly interesting.
