Job summary

HLZAE, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Milrose Consultants, LLC, is seeking a Project Associate (PA), MEP Forensics Engineer in New York City. You will support forensic investigations and assessments of building MEP systems, identifying deficiencies and developing repair or upgrade solutions.

This hybrid role based in NYC involves field investigations about 50% of the time and collaboration with directors and project managers to deliver compliant, cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related MEP field.
• 1–5 years of experience in MEP engineering or forensic engineering.
• Knowledge of building MEP systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and evaluate system deficiencies.
• Familiarity with NYC Building Codes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support forensic investigations, condition assessments, and failure analyses of MEP systems.
• Assist in evaluating existing MEP systems to identify deficiencies and life expectancy.
• Participate in field investigations and inspections to document conditions and data.
• Prepare technical reports and assessment findings with clear observations and recommendations.
• Assist with code reviews and compliance assessments for NYC Building Codes and related codes.
• Perform field inspections in mechanical spaces, roof access, basements, and other challenging sites.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
