Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University seeks a Building Operations Manager to oversee the maintenance and reliability of MEP systems across BSPH, SON, and related facilities. You will lead a team of supervisors and technicians, drive preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, efficient building operations in support of academic and research work.

You will manage budgets, coordinate with campus partners, and advance sustainability initiatives under climate and health guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
• 10 years of experience managing a workforce of at least 20 employees.
• Maryland State Certified in a trade such as Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing.
• Master Trade/Journeyworker certification.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience or education.

Responsibilities

• Develop priorities and direct supervisors to achieve department objectives.
• Direct Supervisors in workload management and performance standards.
• Oversee MEP Preventive Maintenance program for reliability and efficiency.
• Hire, train, evaluate, and terminate ~20 staff including HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing roles.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, BOCA, state and federal regulations.
• Manage budget totaling ~ $4.5 million and assist in fiscal planning.
• Review capital plans impact and adjust programs accordingly.
• Procure and track supplies and equipment for maintenance programs.
• Support sustainability initiatives and energy reduction goals.
• Respond to emergencies and on-call duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
