Job summary

HTS Engineering Ltd. seeks a Preconstruction Estimator to fill gaps from drawings and develop detailed MEP estimates with takeoffs and unit pricing. You will review designs for missing information and draft RFIs for submittals, ensuring accurate scope across trades.

You will build bid tabs from Trade Contractors, provide cost-saving recommendations, and present to Owners and A/E teams to explain variances and offer constructability solutions.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of preconstruction experience.
• Ability to self-manage with minimal direction.
• Ability to read specifications with understanding of trade specialists.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand plans (conceptual drawings to CDs).
• Knowledge of trade-specific scope and unit pricing.

Responsibilities

• Fill in gaps from drawings and design documents for missing information.
• Assemble detailed MEP estimates with takeoffs and unit pricing.
• Review drawings for missing information and write RFIs for submittals.
• Develop bid tabs from trade contractors to ensure accurate scope.
• Provide cost-saving suggestions by trade (MEP).
• Communicate with Operations Team regarding site logistics to be included in estimates.
• Provide multiple progressive estimates with cost variance reconciliation.
• Present to Owners & A/E Team to discuss design & pricing and explain variances, recommending solutions.
• Focus on risk management regarding qualifications, scope and constructability issues.
• Document reviews & RFIs: provide completeness reviews & constructability of drawings & specs.
