Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an MEP Estimator II to gather, compute, and compile data to produce project estimates. For smaller projects, this role will prepare full estimates and support the lead estimator.

Responsibilities include creating estimates, performing takeoffs, soliciting trade partners, and organizing RFPs and schedules. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in construction operations and proficiency with estimating software.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Estimating, Civil or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• Minimum three years construction operations experience including materials management and project operations
• Current driver’s license
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Applicable mathematical skills
• Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
• Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies

Responsibilities

• Create Project Estimates
• Complete quantity takeoffs and material summations
• Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates, and time projections for vendor comparison and estimate summaries
• Assist in preparing RFP documents and schedules using project data to estimate GC and other schedule-driven items
• Determine pricing options and the appropriate price for the project
• Support lead estimator in data input into estimating software
• Archive filings and gather historical cost data
• Participate in estimate reviews, project reviews, and site investigations
• Assist lead estimator in gathering information from government and private entities affecting the project
• Help manage Addendum log and documents from customers/clients
• Provide direction to new Estimators and Engineers joining the team
• Solicit new bidders and gather documents for future projects
• Provide training to other estimators and interns
