Job summary

Grunley Construction is seeking an MEP Estimator to work with the Director of Estimating on bids, design-builds, GMPs, and conceptual estimates. The role focuses on fire suppression, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, communications, and security trades (Division 21-28).

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's in engineering, architecture, or construction management, 3+ years GC or subcontractor experience, and strong MS Office and estimating software skills. Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Minimum 3 years construction experience with GC or subcontractor; mechanical and/or electrical focus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and math skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Experience with Building Connected, On-Screen Takeoff, Blue Beam and Procore.

Responsibilities

• Assist in competitive bids, design-builds, GMPs and conceptual estimates.
• Focus on MEP trades (Division 21-28) including fire suppression, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, communications and security.
• Collaborate with the Director of Estimating and Preconstruction.
• Provide constructability input during estimating and bidding.

The MEP Estimator will work closely with the Director of Estimating and Preconstruction department on competitive bids, design-builds, competitive GMPs, and conceptual estimates. The MEP estimator's primary focus will be trades involving fire suppression, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, communications, and/or security systems (Division 21 - 28).

Reports to: Director of Estimating

• Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management
• Required Experience
  • A minimum of five (3) years of construction experience isrequired. Experience should be with a general contractor or subcontractor. Construction / Estimatingexperience should be Mechanical and/or Electrical focused.
• Preferred Experience
  • Experience using construction software such as Building Connected, On-Screen Takeoff, Blue Beam, and Procore
• Required Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational and math skills
  • Must have strong capabilities in reading and understanding construction documents and construction project scheduling.
  • Must understand the processes and sequencing of construction and be able to provide constructability input into the estimating and bidding process.
• Security Clearance
  • Employee needs to be able to be submitted for Top Secret clearance.
