Job summary

Grunley Construction is seeking an MEP Coordinator to assure subcontractors provide high-quality mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction in line with project cost and schedule requirements.

Reporting to the Project Executive, the role focuses on planning, coordination, and assisting the design/construction team across MEP trades within major commercial, institutional, and government projects in the DMV.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience with working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction procedures and practices.
  • This position requires a successful track record in all aspects of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction.

Responsibilities

  • Planning: As it pertains to MEP trades – Achieve a detailed understanding of the contract documents (drawings and specifications), phasing plans, MEP systems interrelationships, construction sequencing, project schedule.
  • Coordination: Lead the coordination drawings process and facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between MEP subcontractors during the coordination drawings process.
  • Assistance to design and construction team as appropriate: Assist the design team in resolution of MEP issues; Assist PM in receipt and review of MEP submittals; Log and post all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings; Assist PM with scope review, budgeting, and justification of MEP change order work.
  • Supervision: Supervise the installation of MEP work, and other work as deemed appropriate by management; Lead periodic on site coordination meetings with the subcontractors’ foremen; Participate in all meetings conducted by the Superintendent with foremen.

Education

Requirements
  • Required Education
    • Bachelors degree: Engineering, Construction Management, or Business
    • Vocational Training

    • Validate design issues and develop suggested alternative solutions before forwarding them to the PM.
  • Assistance to design and construction team as appropriate
    • Assist the design team in resolution of MEP issues.
    • Assist PM in receipt and review of MEP submittals.
    • Log and post all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings.
    • Assist PM with scope review, budgeting, and justification of MEP change order work.
  • Supervision
    • Supervise the installation of MEP work, and other work as deemed appropriate by management.
    • Lead periodic (as warranted by the job) on site coordination meetings with the subcontractors’ foremen.
    • Participate in all meetings conducted by the Superintendent with foremen.

The salary range for this role will be $100,000.00-$165,000.00.
