Job summary

m2e Consulting Engineers in South and Central Florida seeks an Engineering Director to lead the MEP department, guide complex projects, and ensure operational excellence with cross-functional collaboration.

You will own the P&L, oversee staffing, QA/QC, risk management, and regulatory compliance, while mentoring engineers toward licensure and strengthening client relationships. This role requires a Florida PE and a passion for technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university (Master’s degree preferred).
• Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license via examination or active registration in another state with the ability to reciprocate to Florida within six months of beginning employment.
• Valid contractor license (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
• Valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow the MEP department (8–12 staff), including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
• Develop engineers and designers toward licensure and increased technical responsibility.
• Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards aligned with company goals.
• Conduct workforce and capacity planning to ensure proper staffing levels and balanced utilization.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the firmwide technical authority for all MEP engineering matters.
• Provide executive-level oversight on complex or high-risk projects across CR&D, QAS, and FINES.
• Sign and seal MEP drawings, reports, and engineering documents in accordance with Florida licensure requirements.
• Perform risk mitigation reviews and ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and applicable standards.
• Oversee multidisciplinary coordination to ensure proper MEP integration across projects.
