Job summary

Thor is seeking an experienced MEP Director to lead the delivery of large-scale data center construction projects across the Southeast from a remote/hybrid base with occasional travel. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and critical infrastructure systems from preconstruction through commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in MEP or construction leadership roles, with significant data center experience.
• Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing MEP systems for data center or critical infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in electrical distribution, mechanical cooling systems, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and critical infrastructure.
• Proven success managing large-scale, capital-intensive construction programs and multi-site teams.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, startup, integrated systems testing, and operational turnover.
• Experience managing MEP subcontractors, engineering consultants, vendors, and commissioning agents.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing large project budgets and forecasting.
• Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Project, BIM/VDC coordination tools, and construction cost management platforms.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• PMP, PE, or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive oversight for MEP and critical systems activities across multiple data center projects.
• Lead MEP strategy and execution from design development, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
• Manage and coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and BMS/controls scopes.
• Partner with development, design, construction, operations, and commissioning teams for seamless delivery.
• Oversee MEP budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, value engineering, and financial reporting.
• Direct contractor and vendor selection processes, bid evaluations, scope reviews, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with schedules, safety standards, QA/QC, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead technical reviews of drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and field execution plans.
• Mentor and manage project managers, MEP managers, field engineers, and site teams.
• Coordinate commissioning activities, integrated systems testing, and handover processes.
• Provide executive reporting and project updates to stakeholders.
• Support phased deployments and concurrent projects across Georgia and the Southeast region.

Location: Remote/hybrid with sporadic travel

A leading infrastructure development firm seeks an experienced MEP Director to lead the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects across the Atlanta market and the broader Southeast region. This leadership role oversees all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and critical infrastructure systems from preconstruction through commissioning and operational handover.

The MEP Director will drive technical execution, coordination, quality, and performance across multiple mission-critical projects, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
