Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of construction experience, with 2-3+ years in mechanical projects.
  • Experience managing HVAC, piping, plumbing, or sheet metal scopes.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, documentation, and subcontractors.
  • Experience leading Project Engineers or APMs preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of mechanical construction experience.
  • Strong financial, contractual, scheduling, client-management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience leading project teams and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, procurement, staffing, and execution strategies.
  • Oversee cost, schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with project leadership, superintendents, BIM/VDC, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
  • Manage cost reports, forecasting, change orders, billing, procurement, and closeout.
  • Coordinate mechanical equipment, ductwork, piping, sheet metal, controls, insulation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Partner with BIM/VDC and field leadership on coordination, constructability, labor planning, sequencing, and productivity.
  • Manage subcontractor/vendor relationships and negotiate agreements and change orders.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate status, risks, and financial performance to leadership and clients.
  • Support inspections, startup, testing, commissioning, punch-list, and turnover.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers, APMs, and project team members.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety, security, quality, codes, and DOE requirements.

Mechanical Construction Project Manager I / II
Location: Amarillo, TX - Local, Onsite
Compensation
  • PM I: $120K-$140K base
  • PM II: $140K-$160K base

Final title and compensation based on experience, project size, leadership responsibility, and qualifications.

Position Overview

We are seeking Mechanical Construction Project Managers at the PM I and PM II levels to support a high-profile Department of Energy project in Amarillo, TX. The role will oversee complex mechanical construction scopes, including HVAC, mechanical piping, and sheet metal, from planning and preconstruction through closeout.

  • 4-7 years of construction experience, with 2-3+ years supporting or managing mechanical projects.
  • Experience managing defined HVAC, piping, plumbing, or sheet metal scopes.
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, documentation, and subcontractors.
  • Experience leading Project Engineers or Assistant PMs preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of mechanical construction experience.
  • Proven experience independently managing large or technically complex projects.
  • Strong financial, contractual, scheduling, client-management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience leading project teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications
  • Experience managing commercial, industrial, government, or mission-critical mechanical construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing, and/or sheet metal systems.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractors, contracts, and client expectations.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, RFIs, submittals, change orders, forecasting, and closeout.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project-management software.
  • Ability to work onsite in Amarillo and satisfy all DOE site-access, security, and employment requirements.
Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or related field; mechanical contractor experience; DOE/federal, industrial, power, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or advanced manufacturing experience; Procore, Bluebeam, P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks experience; BIM/VDC, prefabrication, commissioning, and direct-hire craft labor experience.
