Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking mentors for a Beginning Teacher Mentorship program. The role is contract/hourly with a year-long mentorship, assigned on a semester-to-semester basis depending on placement.

Preference given to teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. The program provides mentor training prerequisites and requires completion of a mentor course through the WV State Department of Education before mentorship ends.

Qualifications

• Mentor must have completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester.
• Must have or complete mentor course offered thru WV State Department of Education before end of mentorship.

• Mentor begins a year-long mentorship experience, assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending placement.

Application Procedure

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential. EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.

SALARY $300 per Mentor per semester - Job description available from the personnel office

***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
