West Virginia K-12 Jobs in Beckley, WV is seeking mentors for a Beginning Teacher Mentorship program. The role is contract/hourly with a year-long mentorship, assigned on a semester-to-semester basis depending on placement.

The position pays $300 per mentor per semester and requires completing the WV Department of Education mentor course and training from the WV Center for Professional Development before the mentorship ends.

Qualifications

• Must have or complete mentor course offered through WV State Department of Education before end of mentorship.
• Preference for teachers at same school teaching the same or similar subject and grade level.
• Mentor must have completed WV Center for Professional Development mentor training.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a beginning teacher for a year-long experience with semester-to-semester assignments.
• Participate in mentor selection and placement processes as needed.
• Coordinate with the personnel office and ensure mentor training requirements are met.

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.

SALARY $300 per Mentor per semester - Job description available from the personnel office

***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
