Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks mentors for the Beginning Teacher Mentorship program in WV. This year-long role pairs mentors with beginning teachers and follows a semester-to-semester assignment.

Mentors are paid $300 per mentor per semester and must have or complete mentor training and WV DOE credentialing targets during the mentorship period.

Qualifications

• Must have completed WV mentor training prior to or during first semester.
• Preference for those with the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• Mentor course required before end of mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring to beginning teachers for the duration of the program.
• Coordinate with school staff and administrators as needed.
• Attend mentor training and fulfill program requirements.

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential. EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.

***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)
