Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs seeks mentors for beginning teachers in a contract/hourly mentorship program. Mentors are assigned semester-to-semester and encouraged to mentor teachers at the same school with similar subjects/grades.

A $300 per mentor per semester rate is offered, with a formal job description available from the personnel office. Preference given to those with the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential and to mentors who have completed WV Center for Professional Development's mentor

Qualifications

• Must have completed WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester.
• Preference for Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.
• Must complete mentor course offered thru WV State Department of Education before end of mentorship.

Job description

• Position Type: Contract/Hourly Employment

Preference for teachers at the same school, teaching the same or similar subject and grade level as the beginning teacher. Mentor must have completed the WV Center for Professional Development's mentor training institute prior to or during the first semester of such assignment. Preference given to those teachers holding the Master Mentor Teacher Advanced Credential.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: The Beginning Teacher Mentorship is a year-long experience, completed in the semester increments. The mentor is assigned on a semester-to-semester basis pending the placement of the beginning teacher.

SALARY $300 per Mentor per semester - Job description available from the personnel office

***Each Faculty Senate shall have an opportunity to make recommendations on the selection of faculty to serve as mentors for beginning teachers under beginning teacher internship programs at the school (18-5A-5)

MUST HAVE OR COMPLETE MENTOR COURSE OFFERED THRU WV STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION BEFORE END OF MENTORSHIP.
