Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an Internal Mentor Teacher (Nix) at Taylor County Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role is a contract/hourly extracurricular assignment with a stipend of $600.00.

The mentor provides emotional and professional support, observes and evaluates the mentee, and delivers monthly feedback per policy. Position will require WV certification and completion of mentorship training or attendance at the next session.

Qualifications

• Valid WV certification is required.
• Completion of the new mentorship training or willingness to receive the training at the next scheduled session.
• Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience.
• Satisfactory past evaluations or recommendation of principal.
• Demonstrated skills in adapting to diverse middle/high school curricula and teaching strategies.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional and professional support to beginning teachers per WV policy.
• Observe and evaluate the mentee as needed.
• Provide monthly feedback to the candidate.
• Coordinate with the Superintendent's Office for additional information.

JOB TITLE: Internal Mentor Teacher (Nix)

EMPLOYMENT LOCATION: Taylor County Middle School

SALARY: Stipend - $600.00

FUNDING SOURCE: Teacher Leader Induction

EFFECTIVE DATE:2026-2027 School year

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid WV certification required.

2. Completion of the new mentorship training or willingness to receive the training at the next scheduled session

3. Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience

4. Satisfactory past evaluations or recommendation of principal

5. Knowledge/ability as exhibited through school/classroom experiences in the following areas:

A. Understanding of Middle and High School Curriculum

B. Understanding of a variety of teaching strategies

C. Ability to communicate/listen and share with the beginning school teacher

D. Sensitivity to beginning teacher needs

E. Demonstrated skills in classroom management

F. Current with the latest research on teaching and learning

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

-Provide emotional and professional support to beginning school teacher per West Virginia State Board Policy 5900 and Taylor County Policy.

-Observe/evaluate teacheras needed

-Provide feedback monthly to candidate
