Job summary

Centurion is seeking a Full-time Mental Health Technician to join our team at the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, MD. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to monitor basic behavioral and mental health needs of patients in a correctional setting.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or counseling, plus prior MHT or CNA experience. CPR/BLS certification and a valid driver's license are required; background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or counseling required.
• Previous experience as a MHT or CNA required.
• One (1) year of experience working with the autistic population preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Must be appropriately and actively certified in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic behavioral/mental health monitoring to patients in a correctional setting.
• Create and provide recreational groups addressing symptoms and promoting recovery and well-being.
• Conduct assessments of recreational and adaptive living needs.
• Participate in treatment team meetings to set patient plans and goals.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) (Maryland) works alongside a multi-disciplinary team to provide basic behavioral/mental health monitoring to patients in a correctional setting, including creating and providing recreational groups designed to address symptoms, providing structured cognitive and social stimulation to promote individual recovery and well-being, conducting assessments of recreational and adaptive living needs, and participating in treatment team meetings to set patient plans and goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or counseling required
• Previous experience as a MHT or CNA required
