Job summary

Centurion Health seeks a Full-time Day Mental Health Technician for the North Branch Correctional Institute in Cumberland, Maryland. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to monitor behavioral health and support inmate well-being in a correctional setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, prior MHT or CNA experience, CPR/BLS certification, a valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or counseling is required
• Previous experience as a MHT or CNA is required
• One year of experience with autistic population preferred
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
• CPR and BLS certification are required
• Background investigation and agency security clearance may be required

Responsibilities

• Works with the multi-disciplinary team to provide basic behavioral/mental health monitoring in a correctional setting
• Creates and provides recreational groups addressing symptoms and promotes recovery
• Provides structured cognitive and social stimulation to support patient well‑being
• Assesses recreational and adaptive living needs and participates in treatment team meetings
• Helps set patient plans and goals with the treatment team

Centurion is proud to be the provider of comprehensive services to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. We are currently seeking a Full-time Day Mental Health Technician to join our team at North Branch Correctional Institute in Cumberland, Maryland.

The Mental Health Technician works alongside the multi-disciplinary team to provide basic behavioral/mental health monitoring to patients in a correctional setting. Additional duties include creating and providing recreational groups designed to address symptoms, providing structured cognitive and social stimulation to promote individual recovery and well-being. This person assesses recreational and adaptive living needs and participates in treatment team meetings to set patient plans and goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, or counseling required
• Previous experience as a MHT or CNA required
• One (1) year of experience working with the autistic population preferred
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
• Must be appropriately and actively certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
