Responsibilities

Mental Health Technician - 7p-7a shift, differentials offered!

Horizon Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician for our new Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This 24-bed inpatient unit serves adult and pediatric patients, with plans to expand to 48 beds by 2026. The facility is a collaboration between Altru Health System and Universal Health Services, focusing on expanding inpatient behavioral health services.

The MHT will perform patient care activities under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. Responsibilities include observing and recording patient information, reporting to the Registered Nurse, escorting and monitoring patients, and attending to their personal needs. The role requires physical assistance to patients and handling emergencies.

Responsibilities:
  1. Attend to patient personal needs (hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring).
  2. Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers, and discharges; provide support as ordered.
  3. Observe and record patient behaviors, vital signs, and weight regularly.
  4. Conduct therapies according to patient diagnosis and needs.
  5. Check and document luggage and belongings upon admission; maintain property lists.
  6. Perform clerical duties like charting, copying, filing, and ordering supplies.
  7. Monitor and document food and fluid intake; assist with feeding as needed.
  8. Complete visual checks on patients every 15 minutes or as per policy.
  9. Ensure patient dignity and provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
