Responsibilities

Mental Health Technician - 7p-7a shift differentials offered!

Horizon Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician for our new Altru Behavioral Health Center in Grand Forks, ND. This 24-bed inpatient unit serves adult and pediatric patients, with plans to expand to 48 beds by 2026. The MHT will perform patient care activities under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, including observing, recording patient information, escorting patients, and attending to their personal needs. The role requires physical assistance with patients and handling emergencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, transferring, etc.)
  • Escort and monitor patients during admissions, transfers, and discharges; provide support as ordered
  • Observe and record patient behaviors, vital signs, and weight
  • Conduct therapies based on patient diagnosis and needs
  • Check and document belongings upon admission; maintain property list
  • Perform clerical duties such as charting, copying, filing, and ordering supplies
  • Monitor and document food and fluid intake; assist with feeding as required
  • Complete visual checks on patients as per policy
  • Ensure patient dignity, respect, and provide emotional support to patients and families
