Job summary

BayCare Health System in the Tampa Bay area seeks a Mental Health Technician III to provide direct patient care for psychiatric patients under RN supervision. You will lead and mentor team members, support safety and therapeutic relationships, and coordinate unit activity throughout the patient’s stay in St Joseph's North.

The role requires BLS, a high school diploma with related field education, and a willingness to work a day shift (6:45 AM–7:15 PM) in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; Master’s in related field in lieu of experience; Associate’s in psychology or related field preferred.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; CNA preferred.
Experience in psychology or behavioral health setting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care to psychiatric patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Leads and mentors Mental Health Technician team members; supports safety and well-being.
Maintains therapeutic relationships and coordinates with the treatment team throughout the patient stay.
Promotes effective communication and boundary setting with patients and staff.

Summary:

Provides direct patient care to psychiatric patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a leadership role amongst other Mental Health Technicians through communication, education and mentoring of team members. Ensures that the team is consistently monitoring and observing patients to ensure safety and well-being. Promotes effective communication and therapeutic relationships with patients and team members. Maintains and ensures appropriate boundaries with patients and team at all times. Promotes coordination of the unit by assisting with patient needs during entire length of stay in collaboration with the treatment team. Demonstrates flexibility in assignments to meet the needs of the facility.
