Job summary

BayCare is hiring a Mental Health Technician for the Winter Haven Behavioral Health unit. The role involves direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, with a focus on safety, observation, and therapeutic communication.

The position is full-time, hourly, with a 6:45 PM–7:15 AM shift. Candidates should have a BLS certification; CNA is preferred and related education such as a high school diploma or higher is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification; CNA preferred.
• 6 months of psychology-related experience or a related Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision.
• Performs ongoing observation to ensure patient safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes therapeutic communication and relationships with patients.

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: Winter Haven Behavioral Health
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field - Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
