Job summary

BayCare is seeking a Mental Health Technician for the King Helie Adult Center in New Port Richey, FL. This full-time, hourly role supports psychiatric inpatients under RN supervision, providing direct care and ensuring patient safety and wellbeing.

Required BLS and preferred CNA or Patient Care Technician certification; high school diploma with related coursework, plus 6 months of psychology or related field experience.

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: King Helie Adult Center
• Location: New Port Richey, FL
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 10am - 10pm
• Weekend Work: Every Other
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field - Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
