Job summary

BayCare Health Systems is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join our compassionate team at Mease Dunedin Hospital in Clearwater, FL. This full-time, hourly position supports psychiatric inpatients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, focusing on safety, observation, and therapeutic engagement.

You will provide direct patient care, monitor patients, and collaborate with nurses and therapy staff. Required: High School diploma; BLS; CNA/PCT preferred; 6 months psychology or related

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required; CNA or PCT preferred.
• 6 months psychology or related field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: Mease Dunedin Hospital
• Location: Clearwater, FL
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM
• Weekend Work: Every Other
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field - Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
