Job summary

BayCare Health Systems is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the Mease Dunedin Hospital team in Clearwater, FL. The role focuses on direct patient care in a psychiatric inpatient setting, with supervision by a Registered Nurse and emphasis on safety and therapeutic engagement.

The position is full-time and hourly, with potential for growth and benefits. BLS is required; CNA or Patient Care Technician credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• BLS certification required; CNA or Patient Care Technician preferred.
• 6 months experience in psychology or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the supervision of an RN.
• Performs ongoing monitoring and observation to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Supports communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Mental Health Technician Position Details:

• Facility: Mease Dunedin Hospital
• Location: Clearwater, FL
• Status: Full time, Hourly
• Shift Hours: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Weekend Work: Every Other
• On Call: No

The Mental Health Technician Responsibilities:

• Provides direct patient care to psychiatric inpatients under the direct Supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and observation of patients to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Promotes communication and therapeutic relationships with patients.

Required Certification/Licensures:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CNA (Nursing Assistant) - preferred
• Patient Care Technician - preferred

Required Education:

• High School or Equivalent
• Associate's degree in related field - Preferred
• Bachelor's degree in related field- Preferred

Required Experience:

• 6 months – Psychology or Bachelor's degree in related field
