Meadowview Behavioral Hospital is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our treatment team in Peoria, IL. Under RN supervision, you will provide ongoing care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients, helping create a therapeutic environment that supports well-being.

The role requires CPR and crisis intervention training; education ranges from a high school diploma to related degrees, with experience in psychiatric care preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; CNA/NAR required; related degree preferred.
• Experience: One year of related psychiatric patient care preferred.
• CPR certification and crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment; flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record vital signs.
• Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN.
• Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide input for revisions.
• Employ crisis-intervention techniques, lead MHT groups, and use CPI techniques.
• Assist patients through discharge and help with adjustments to life changes and personal hygiene.
• Assist with hospital codes.
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.

• Accurately record vital signs

• Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
• Assist patients through discharge, guide them in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
• Assist with hospital codes
• Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.

Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing or NAR required; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services, or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
• Additional Skill Requirements: Successful completion of CPR certification and crisis intervention training within 10 days of employment, prior to assisting with restraining procedures. May be required to work flexible hours.

Compensation:
