Ridgeview Institute Smyrna in Smyrna, GA, invites qualified candidates to join as a Mental Health Technician (MHT). You will work under RN supervision providing continuous patient care, support, and safety across diverse age groups from preschool to geriatrics.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting progress, crisis intervention, assisting with daily living activities, and advocating for patient rights. CPR/First Aid and CPI training within 90 days are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; CNA preferred.
• One year of related experience with psychiatric patient care knowledge preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CPR/First Aid and CPI training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs accurately.
• Observe changes in patient condition and document responses to interventions.
• Communicate patient changes to the charge nurse and follow treatment plans.
• Document treatment plans, nursing interventions, and patient responses.
• Assist with personal hygiene and activities of daily living; advocate for patient rights.

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN!***SIGN-ON BONUS FOR FULL-TIME POSITIONS: $1,500.00Your Work Matters How will you make a difference?The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from preschool through geriatrics, depending on which unit works. MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Duties and responsibilities:Take and record vital signs correctly.Utilize sound judgment during assessment and observe and document changes in a patient's appearance, behavior, or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.Communicate changes in the patient's condition to the charge nurse.Follow the therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient.Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions, and the patient's response to the intervention.Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as neededAssist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.Act as the patient's advocate and ensure that the patient's rights are upheld.Note: The essential job functions of this position are not limited to the duties listed above.Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred;Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness, preferred.Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.Additional Requirements: Successful completion CPR/ First Aid certification and CPI training to within 90 days of employment prior to assisting with restraining procedures.
