Job summary

Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Psychiatric Technician for Behavioral Services. The position supports care for severely developmentally disabled patients and those in substance rehab, working under nurses and with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, assisting with admissions, and documenting observations. Requires Psychology-related education and a valid BLS/TCI as noted; hours are 7am–7pm with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Psychology or equivalent experience.
• Successful completion of TCI within three months of hire.
• BLS certification required (will be provided if needed).

Responsibilities

• Observe patients’ behavior, listen to their concerns, and record their condition.
• Assist with admitting and discharging patients.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs, such as blood pressure.
• Assist in activities of daily living, including eating and bathing.
• Assist in restraining patients who may become physically violent.
• Share observations with the treatment team, including the Unit Manager and Team Leader.
