Job summary

Cedar Creek Hospital in St. Johns, Michigan is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Technician for full-time day shifts.

The role involves assisting in safety and emotional assessments, supporting treatment plans, helping with grooming, and participating in patient groups to meet diverse needs. You will maintain a therapeutic milieu, use de-escalation techniques, and assist with admissions, vital signs, and unit orientation under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Human Services preferred but not required.
• CPR certification (can obtain after hire).

Responsibilities

• Assist in assessing safety and emotional needs of patients.
• Support treatment plans with individualized interventions.
• Assist patients with grooming and hygiene as needed.
• Participate in groups/activities to meet patient needs.
• Maintain therapeutic rapport and safe milieu; de-escalation as needed.
• Make rounds every 15 minutes to ensure patient safety.
• Assist RN with admissions/discharges; take vital signs and orient patients.
