Job summary

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is seeking a Mental Health Technician to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and assist with daily living activities in a behavioral health setting.

The role requires flexibility to work with varied populations and may involve crisis intervention and participation in treatment planning.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• Degree in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline preferred.
• CPR certification prior to independent patient assignment.
• Management Aggressive Behavior Training (HWC) before unit orientation and prior to restraining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu and assist with activities of daily living.
• Conduct 15‑minute rounds on patients per policy.
• Assist patients who are prone to fall when walking or sitting.
• Participate in restraint and seclusion of patients when required.
• Communicate patient progress to the treatment team and participate in shift reports.
