A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to provide direct care and supervision for residents. The role involves ensuring safety, assisting with recreational activities, and adhering to psychiatric care standards. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, with preference given to those with a Bachelor's in Psychology and experience in psychiatric settings. This position requires effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work long shifts.
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct care and supervision for residents, ensures residents are kept safe, learns and practices appropriate hygiene and self-help skills, and is aware of rules and expectations. MHTs act as role models, demonstrating effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. They may be exposed to psychiatric patients who exhibit violent or aggressive behavior.
Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities, transport residents to medical appointments, and ensure scheduled programming is carried out. Perform duties according to the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, facility policies, and standards. MHTs report to the Milieu Manager under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer.
