Southeast Behavioral Hospital is excited to offer a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services to the people of Southeast Missouri. Our 102-provides a wide range of mental, emotional and behavioral health services for children, teens, adults and seniors experiencing mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety and co-occurring substance use issues. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, the Cape Girardeau region has long been an area of vibrant commerce and abundance, with significant roots in agriculture and trading posts which produced generations of people full of pride and a determination to put in a hard day’s work. This regional economy enjoys many diverse industry sectors, each thriving and enjoying the fruits of their labor. The Cape Girardeau region has significant reach for its consumers and a labor force encompassing a 40-mile radius.

The Mental Health Technician is a vital part of Southeast Behavioral Hospital's treatment team. This is a full time position with an opportunity to work on the day (6:30am - 7:00pm) or night (6:30pm - 7:00 AM) shift. Our full time positions require employees to work every other weekend and there is a competitive shift differential for night and weekend shifts.

As a Mental Health Technician, you will:

• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
• Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
• Assist with patient groups and activities
• Work with culturally and generationally diverse populations to meet their individual needs
• Provide trauma informed and age-specific care
• Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• College student who has obtained or are pursuing their degree in behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services are preferred
• Six months prior experience in a mental health setting preferred
• Valid certification as a nursing assistant preferred
