Job summary

Universal Health Services' Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO seeks a Mental Health Technician to join the treatment team on a night shift (6:30 PM–7:00 AM) with rotating weekends. You will provide continuous patient care, supervision, and role modeling under RN supervision.

Requirements include a High School degree or equivalent, CNA preferred, 2 years of psychiatric care experience, valid driver's license, and completion of required training.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; CNA preferred.
• Experience: 2 years in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• Licensure: Valid driver's license required.
• Additional: Completion of MB Training & CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients from adolescents through geriatrics under RN direction.
• Work as an active part of the treatment team to support the patient care plan.
• Assist with handling of behavioral health needs and ensure safety on night shift.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescents through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training, Handle with Care, Service Excellence Training and CPR certification required. MHT’s must successfully complete 75 hours of classroom/computer based instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical practicum. MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime and have flexible hours.
