Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Technician for our Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. The role provides continuous patient care and supervision under a Registered Nurse, serving patients from adolescents to geriatrics on a day shift with rotating weekends.

Education includes a High School Degree or equivalent, with CNA preferred. A valid driver's license is required, and staff must complete required training including CPR and Handle with Care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Degree or equivalent; CNA preferred.
• Experience: Two years of related experience in psychiatric patient care preferred.
• Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license.
• Additional Requirements: MHT training, Handle with Care, CPR certification; 75 hours classroom/instruction and 100 hours supervised practicum; may require weekends and flexible hours.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescents through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion Management Aggressive Behavior Training, Handle with Care, Service Excellence Training and CPR certification required. MHT’s must successfully complete 75 hours of classroom/computer based instruction and 100 hours of supervised clinical practicum. MHT’s may be required to work weekends, overtime and have flexible hours.
