Universal Health Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mental Health Technician at Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO to help ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

The Lead MHT works under the Nurse Educator and supports training, preceptorship and mentorship of MHTs across the facility, promoting continuous, safe patient observation and interaction. The role requires a High School degree or equivalent, preferred CNA, three years of related experience in psychiatric patient

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Primary function of Lead Mental Health Technician is to ensure patient safety. The Lead MHT assists CNO with planning and oversight of the MHT patient care role and overall goal of facilitating the provision of continuous and safe patient care, observation, interaction and role modeling to patient. Under the oversight of the Nurse Educator, the Lead MHT is responsible for primary training, preceptorship and mentorship of the MHTs throughout the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent, Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years’ of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred. At least once year of experience coaching and developing other staff members in psychiatric patient care techniques or at least one year of experience performing similar duties at the facility.

Licensure/Certifications: Successful completion of approved Basic Life Support and approved Crisis Prevention & Behavioral Management training. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.

Additional Requirements: Obtain/maintain certification as an instructor/facilitator for Verbal De-escalation, Aggression Management, CPR/BLS or other additional duties, above and beyond the MHT requirements. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
