Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited certified nurse assistant program or completion of two years nursing school.
• Current CA Certified Nurse Assistant certificate.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• CPI or AB-508 certified within the first month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with mentally ill patients and families.
• Works as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Assists admissions and orientation of new patients; prepares rooms.
• Assists patients with ambulation and transfers as needed.
• Provides one-to-one observation when acting as a sitter and documents care.
• Gathers and documents vital signs; reports deviations.
• Assists nursing staff with treatments; responds to call lights promptly.
• Participates in safety rounds, infection control, and quality improvement.
