Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation, active insurance, and current vehicle registration.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic comfort with smartphone apps and email, and ability to complete electronic documentation (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support and supervision to adults living with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Support takes place in clients' homes and in the surrounding community per individualized plans.
  • Help clients secure stable housing and navigate services.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and provide safe, reliable transportation.
  • Teach coping strategies for anxiety and other mental health challenges.
  • Support daily living skills such as budgeting and managing a checkbook.
  • Offer encouragement as clients work toward personal goals.

What You'll Do

As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you'll provide one-on-one support and supervision to adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, helping them work toward greater independence. Support takes place in clients' homes and in the surrounding community, following each client's individualized, person-centered plan. Your work may include:

  • Helping clients complete steps toward securing stable housing
  • Assisting clients in scheduling appointments and providing safe, reliable transportation
  • Teaching coping strategies for anxiety and other mental health challenges
  • Supporting daily living skills, like budgeting or managing a checkbook
  • Providing encouragement as clients work toward their goals
