Job summary

MAS Community Health in Ellsworth, Maine is hiring Mental Health Support Specialists to work with adults living with severe mental illness in homes and communities, providing one-on-one support under person-centered plans.

You will help with housing steps, scheduling, transportation, coping strategies, daily living skills, and encouragement as clients pursue independence. Training and credentialing support are provided.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Reliable transportation, active insurance, and current vehicle registration
• Ability to pass a background check
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic comfort with smartphone apps and email, and ability to complete electronic documentation (e.g., daily session notes) — training provided

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support and supervision to adults living with severe mental illness
• Support takes place in clients' homes and in the surrounding community
• Assist clients in scheduling appointments and arranging transportation
• Teach coping strategies for anxiety and other mental health challenges
• Support daily living skills, like budgeting or managing a checkbook
• Provide encouragement as clients work toward their goals

What You'll Do

As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you'll provide one-on-one support and supervision to adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, helping them work toward greater independence. Support takes place in clients' homes and in the surrounding community, following each client's individualized, person-centered plan. Your work may include:
