Job summary

State of Indiana Evansville State Hospital seeks a Behavioral & Therapeutic Support Specialist to assist in treatment plan implementation, monitor residents, and support daily living activities. The role emphasizes de-escalation, safety, and collaboration with the clinical team.

You will document progress, participate in therapeutic interventions, and help maintain a secure environment while promoting patient well-being and recovery goals.

Qualifications

• Specialized knowledge of psychiatric nursing care practices including administering medications if certified or licensed.
• Understanding of therapeutic rehabilitation concepts and how to apply them.
• Working knowledge of mental health provider systems.
• Ability to document and chart progress accurately and timely.
• Familiarity with behavior modification, de-escalation and redirection techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the resident’s treatment plan.
• Monitor residents during daily routines and activities.
• Observe, report, and record residents’ condition and behavior.
• Demonstrate therapy techniques to prevent and manage challenging behavior.
• Provide guidance on daily living skills as part of treatment goals.
• Counsel residents on appropriate social behavior.
• Coordinate activities under professional direction to fit individual plans.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to meet treatment objectives for transition living.
• Create a safe, respectful environment conducive to learning and self-esteem.
