Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services seeks a specialized mental health agent to supervise a caseload of individuals living with mental illness. Under general supervision, you will advocate for supervisees, maintain stakeholder networks, and ensure compliance with programs, policies, and protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 15 semester hours in social or behavioral sciences and probation/parole experience.
• An associate’s degree and two years military or certified law enforcement experience may substitute.
• A high school diploma and four years military or certified law enforcement experience may substitute.
• Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council per 23-23-40 SC Code.
• Must be currently Class 1 certified law enforcement officer from SC JAC.
• Preferred: degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, education, counseling or related field with 15 credit hours and two years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first line of supervision for a caseload primarily of individuals living with a mental illness.
• Maintain a professional communication network with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advocate on behalf of those supervised to seek and maintain stability.
• Maintain knowledge of all areas of mental health supervision, programs, policies and protocols.
• Participate in trainings and maintain all requirements for Mental Health Certification.
