Job summary

South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services is seeking a specialized mental health agent to supervise a caseload of individuals living with mental illness. You will advocate for supervisees, connect with stakeholders, and stay current on mental health policies and protocols.

The role requires relevant education and law enforcement credentials, with on-site work and mandatory certification updates within 12 weeks at the SC Academy.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses.
• An associate’s degree plus two years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist) may substitute.
• Or a high school diploma plus four years of military or certified law enforcement experience (including Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist) may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a caseload primarily consisting of individuals living with a mental illness.
• Maintain a professional communication network with internal and external stakeholders and advocate for supervisees to seek/maintain stability.
• Maintain knowledge of mental health supervision programs, policies and protocols; participate in trainings and maintain certification requirements.

Education

Bachelor's degree with 15 sem hrs in social/behavioral sciences

Associate’s degree + 2 years military or certified law enforcement experience

High school diploma + 4 years military or certified law enforcement experience

C-1 law enforcement certification (preferred, within 1 year)
