Job summary

Supportive Concepts for Families, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Specialist to join our Washington, PA team. The role focuses on trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support and assisting residents with daily living, budgeting, and community participation.

Training is provided, and a supportive environment fosters growth. The position requires 18+ years old, a PA driver’s license, and experience with mental health populations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
• Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses and disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support that promotes safety, empowerment, emotional wellness, and personal growth.
• Assist residents with daily living activities, goal achievement, budgeting, community participation, and independent living skills.
• Coordinate and support medical appointments, medication administration oversight, and health-related needs.
• Encourage social engagement, recreational participation, positive coping skills, and development of natural support networks.
• Complete documentation, maintain compliance with agency and HIPAA standards, and help ensure a safe, clean, and supportive residential environment.

What You'll Do

As a Mental Health Specialist, you will:

Qualifications

Required:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
• Some previous experience working directly with individuals with mental health diagnoses and disabilities
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written
• Ability to successfully complete all required training programs
• Ability to pass Criminal Record History Clearance, FBI Clearance, Physical Examination, and Drug Screening

Preferred:

• Experience in residential services, behavioral health, recovery-oriented care, or human services
• Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and person-centered practices
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses

Schedule

• Full-Time
• Flexible scheduling based on program needs
• Evening, weekend, holiday, and overnight hours may be required
• Additional hours based on program and resident needs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and assist individuals as needed
• Ability to transport and accompany residents in the community
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
