Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) seeks a Mental Health Security Specialist Shift Supervisor – SES for Northeast Florida State Hospital in Macclenny, FL. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of safety and security experience in a mental health or related setting.
• Basic recruit training or equivalent can substitute for required experience.
• College coursework in social, behavioral or rehabilitative sciences can substitute on a year-for-year basis for required work experience.
• A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in securing the environment by patrolling and protecting buildings and people.
• Inspect interior buildings for security and safeguarding property.
• Investigate reported thefts and damage to department property.
• Supervise Mental Health Security Specialists and Centrex Operator.
• Administer disciplinary actions after consulting with leadership.
• Respond to calls for service and monitor equipment and supplies to control costs.
• Compile and track information for CQI projects.
• Prepare and post staff schedules to ensure optimal staffing.
• Monitor timecards, overtime, and stay-over procedures to maintain coverage.
• Coordinate transports to other facilities and court appearances.
• Ensure vehicle maintenance and supply readiness.
• Participate in safety committee and training compliance.
