Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD in Houston, TX seeks a Staff Nurse (RN) to provide nursing care to individuals with mental and developmental disabilities. Work within the nursing process and Texas Nurse Practice Act to ensure high-quality care.

You will document care, educate patients and families, and collaborate with RNs, LVNs and other professionals to promote safe, effective outcomes. Competitive benefits included.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from a two-year college.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from a four-year college or university.

Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care using the five-step nursing process (assessment, analysis, planning, implementation and evaluation).
• Administers medications and uses clinical equipment in accordance with policy.
• Documents care, observations, tests and responses in consumer records.
• Educates consumers and families about medications and treatment options.
• Coordinates tasks and supervises other RNs, LVNs and unlicensed personnel as needed.
• Maintains safety, adheres to standards, and supports interdisciplinary teams.
