Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD seeks a Staff Nurse, RN- Relief (PRN) to deliver nursing care to individuals with mental health and developmental disabilities across settings in Houston, TX. You will apply the nursing process to plan, implement, document and evaluate care following Texas Board of Nursing standards.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, administer medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

• RN license valid in Texas or licensure via compact
• ADN/ Diploma RN required; BSN preferred
• Experience in mental health/ID/DD settings preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care using the five-step nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, documentation, evaluation)
• Administer medications and perform diagnostic tests
• Document care in consumer records and ensure accuracy of charts and reports
• Educate consumers and families about treatments, medications and disease processes
• Collaborate with health care team to ensure safe, ethical and effective care
