The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our clinical team in Houston, TX. The LVN will practice under supervision, perform nursing duties within state law, and support consumers with predictable health care needs.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, administering meds, documenting care, educating patients and families, and collaborating with RNs, physicians, and unlicensed staff to ensure safe, ethical care.

Qualifikationen

• Mental health/behavioral health/IDD experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Texas Nurse Practice Act and standards of practice.
• Knowledge of applicable pharmacy rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
• Understanding of Standard Precautions and infection control procedures.
• Understanding of good body mechanics to avoid injury.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• Effective data collection skills.
• Positive interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
• Demonstrates initiative and self-direction.
• Able to coordinate well with others and work effectively as a team member.
• Able to use related medical equipment, machines, monitors and computer applications.
• Demonstrates strong time management skills.
• Able to complete tasks independently.
• Demonstrates clinically sound decision making.

• Utilizes nursing process to deliver services across assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Performs LVN nursing skills, administers medications, and uses equipment.
• Documents care, signs, symptoms, test results and responses in records.
• Educates consumers and families on medications and treatment information.
• Provides nursing care focused on safety and adherence to policies.
• Coordinates tasks and supervises other LVN staff in structured settings.
