Job summary

CooperRiis in Mill Spring, NC is seeking a Mental Health Direct Care Recovery Coach to support residents' recovery by building authentic relationships and helping them engage with clinical programming.

You will welcome residents, provide one-to-one and group coaching, assist in crisis situations, coordinate transportation, and help residents participate in daily community life while following safety and documentation policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with adults who have mental health challenges.
• Valid NC driver's license with clean driving record per policy.
• Willingness to train in garden and greenhouse activities.

Responsibilities

• Welcome residents and provide ongoing orientation and support.
• Accompany tours for residents and families when available.
• Engage in team meetings and community activities.
• Provide relationship‑oriented coaching to foster recovery.
• Assist in crisis management and observe community dynamics.
• Maintain safety documentation and record daily observations.
• Remind residents about medications and appointments.
• Participate in QMHP supervision and mandatory trainings.
• Provide transportation to off-site appointments.
• Support farm/crew activities and lead when needed.
• Assist in garden/greenhouse activities.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Mental Health Direct Care Recovery Coach

The Recovery Coach supports residents' recovery by building authentic, professional relationships and helping to restore a sense of engagement, productivity, and contribution. This role models and promotes community values and a recovery orientation while providing support to residents throughout the day as they engage in clinical programming.

Location: Mill Spring, NC

Pay:Starting at $19.50 per hour and increases based on experience

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary welcoming and support for new residents, including community orientation and ongoing support.
• Act as an ambassador for CooperRiis, providing tours to new residents, their families, and CRA residents when available.
• Participate in team meetings and community activities such as morning and community meetings.
• Provide relationship-oriented coaching and support to help residents acclimate to the CooperRiis community, fully engage in community life, and progress toward recovery.
• Assist the clinical team in managing crisis situations, including one-to-one support for residents in crisis and observing community dynamics.
• Maintain full knowledge of CooperRiis' risk level system, complete safety documentation, and document daily observations of residents when assigned.
• Provide residents with reminders for taking scheduled medications and attending appointments with their clinical team, as well as offering general encouragement and coaching.
• Participate in QMHP supervision and all mandatory training as per CooperRiis policies.
• Provide transportation for residents to off-site appointments, in coordination with nursing and the Farm Program Director.
• Support CWS crews as needed and lead a crew in the absence of a crew leader.
• Assist in garden and greenhouse activities or show a willingness to train for backup roles in these areas.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Farm Program Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience working with adults who have significant mental health challenges.
• At least 21 years old with a current and valid North Carolina Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record per CooperRiis policy.
• Experience or willingness to train in garden and greenhouse activities.
